On the fixed regime the vehicle is serviced every 10,000miles or 12motns regardless of driving use. This is used as standard for all pre 2000MY cars and is an option on post 2000 vehicles. Benefits of this servicing plan is that the vehicle never goes more than a year between inspection (this can be upto 2 years on AVS) and so small, corrosion and wear type problems are less likely to crop up on you un announced. The other is that as extras such as fuel filters, brake fluid changes and timing belts are due at set times or mileages the service will always tally up with the extras as and when they are required, rather than you having to bring the car in for something seemingly trivial in between service visits. The only difference between this and the AVS system s the engine oil used, hence the slightly lower cost. Only the engine oil is variable on AVS!!!

The benefits the of the AVS/LongLife option are applicable if your vehicle travels over higher mileages in a year than most. If your mileage is above average then the AVS option can save you money. If you cover more than 10,000miles per annum then AVS means you can cover upto a maximum of 20,000miles between services, depending on type and conditions of use.
